Team Spotlight: Justin Zhen
Justin currently serves as the Vice President of Sales at Qloo, where he manages sales initiatives and guides the go-to-market strategies. Before taking on this role, he co-founded a data company, successfully raising more than $12 million in funding and managing a sales and marketing team of 30 professionals. Earlier in his career, Justin honed his financial acumen at a quantitative hedge fund. A Princeton University alumnus, he holds a degree in Financial Engineering. Named as one of Business Insider’s 2019 Rising Stars on Wall Street, Justin is also a regular commentator on CNN and CNBC.
What drew you to Qloo?
I spent nine years working in data and knew it was a domain that I wanted to stay in. I saw Qloo’s product and its usage of AI and was fascinated by the applications and size of the addressable market. Most importantly, the team is full of A players - everyone is so brilliant in their own way.
What are you looking forward to most about working at Qloo?
At my last position, I sold mostly to B2B companies. Qloo primarily works with B2C companies, so it will be really exciting to work with brands that I interact with as a consumer every day.
What’s a project you’re working on that you’re excited about?
As the first sales leader at Qloo, I’m excited to build structure and a team from the ground up. There’s something incredibly energizing about laying the foundation for a sales organization, particularly at a company as innovative as this one.
What’s your secret sauce when it comes to working well with others?
I think just being radically open and transparent is critical. Regular communication is also important - even if there is nothing to talk about, I value my 1-on-1 meetings.
